Call for Applications: “Río Negro Biennial 2026”

At the request of the Director of the 3rd International Biennial of Contemporary Art of Río Negro, Juan Pablo Montelpare, we inform you of the opening of the call for the 3rd International Biennial of Contemporary Art of Río Negro, to be held from March 12 to 21, 2026, in the city of Valcheta, Río Negro, Argentina.

The event will be held under the curatorial theme: "Imaginary Heritage, Possible Worlds."

The jury will select 12 projects from individual artists or collectives through a public call. The selected projects will receive financial support for the development of their works.

Relevant information about the event and the application guidelines for the competition — which will run from May 5 to September 14, 2025 — can be found at the following link:

The biennial promotes participatory processes and invites the creation of material artworks or ephemeral actions in the streets of the city and in natural spaces. It also fosters a space for theoretical discussion, rethinking art from the Global South through reflections that contribute to the phenomenology of site-specific art.

The event goes beyond the field of contemporary art, including numerous community and social activities, crafts, and gastronomy, making it an integral part of the province's tourism offerings.
